Kriegsmarine fork and knife for review

The came up on in auction. They look interesting but flatware is far from my specialty. Looking for any and all opinions concerning their originality.

    Thanks in advance!

You'll probably get a better response if this is posted in a Kriegsmarine area.

Any idea what the "M" refers to?

The "M" stands for "Marine" (= Navy)

James Yannes' "The Encyclopedia of Third Reich Tableware" (Trafford Publishing, 2013) presents three different examples of Kriegsmarine utensils, each with a similar eagle and swastika design as the ones shown but with a different handle design (also different from these) -- all including the "M" -- so I would agree that these are original pieces.
