Looks good to me.

Never seen a date of award on a Gau badge.

How about a picture of the date without the needle in the way?

In the alternative, what is the date in 1933?

I have seen this badge before or at least one identical to it.

It was sold by Jamie Cross in 2001 and I have a scan of it.

I think its a great badge but am not sure what the date is for.

In his book, "Gau Decorations of Hitler's Germany" (Schiffer Publishing Ltd., 2012), Craig Gottlieb shows two different copies of the Besitz-Zeugnis (certificate of ownership or awarding) for the Gau Baden badge -- one in silver grade and one in golden grade -- and both certificates are dated "24.9.33." Gottlieb addresses this subject as follows: "Both the gold and silver documents were dated September 24, 1933, which possibly indicates it as the founding-date of the award; both grades were created at the same time."

Hope this is helpful. And I agree, Dirk, that your piece appears to me to be original -- congrats on owning a fine and rare badge!
