Sorry Francesco, but IMO this is a First Issue Sport Badge, Bronze Grade.

Thanks Br. james for confirmations to my doubts.

The colour is controversial this is why I was going to a mistake but to be honest the number was strange to me too (I remember in gold versions there were low number formed by 2/3 numbers).

Thanks so much for your help!

            Regards, Francesco

Thanks, Francesco. It's my opinion that the number itself is no clear indicator of whether a piece is Gold Grade or Bronze Grade...Silver Grade pieces of the First and Second Issue also have numbers that vary widely, yet they are obviously Silver Grade! There has been a lot of comment over time as to what criteria should be employed in judging Gold from Bronze SA Sport Badges, but to my knowledge we are yet to see any period documentation which limits certain number groups to specific grades of badges, or which specifies that only certain manufacturers produced badges bearing award numbers in specific categories or which were only authorized to produce certain issues or grades of this very widely-worn decoration.
