This model krug is not rare but the recepient is special. Is this period engraving?

It appears that some sort of automatic tool was used. It definitely doesn't look like normal hand-engraving.
NOTE: In Pic#1......are those round things "bumps", or are they recessed?
If they're recessed, then maybe a dremel tool or similar device was used to hollow away the metal, and then it was finished by hand.....at least that's the impression I have.
IMO, most such items would have likely been entirely hand-executed.Comment

Shstandard, they are recessed. If engravings were done entirely by hand during this period it definitely casts doubt.Comment

I think the hollows were done this way intentionally to decorate the letters. Otherwise the engraving does look to be hand done.

The seal of Bayreuth. This is where Brigade 77 was based. I was told this model was available pre and post 1945. Some feedback I received indicated the engraving was done by a machine post 45. I would think you could see machine swirls etc.Comment

The photos of the engraving show that it was done with an engraving tool, by hand. The only parts that might have been machine done are the concavities decorating the name and rank. They may also have been tapped in by hand, but either way, it does not affect the originality of the piece, IMO.

The facts are all correct as Otto von Molitot led Brigade 77 'Bayreuth' der Bayerische Ostmark from 20.4.35 till 31.5.37 when he was transferred to the NSFK.

Thanks all. I have seen several examples with military engravings of the exact same "Bayreuth Eichala" pewter stein, with an acorn finial, unique to Bayreuth. They still make them. I think it is a keeper.Comment
