    Goering Silver Wedding Platter

A friend of mine was offered this silver Goering wedding platter. As neither of us has any experience with such items, I thought it might be a good idea to post it for review. I would imagine that lots of this stuff has been faked. Any input on this platter would be much appreciated.

      Hi Doug,

While I'm certain that "... lots of this stuff has been faked...," the Göring/Sonnemann wedding in April of 1935 was one of the social highlights of the early TR years and the gifts and presents that were created specifically for this event appear to be countless. I have never personally seen a piece like this with raised crests from both families but the overall concept was pursued in numberless articles. This appears to be a very nicely-executed platter and I look forward to reading what our other colleagues here have to say about it.

      Thanks for sharing this,

      Br. James
