I think maybe it is a "prototype" eagle intended to accompany the first pattern, very short-lived wreath worn initially on the 4th pattern PL cap. The cap attached has such a wreath paired with the standard, commonly seen eagle. This is just a theory.

        Hi Darekm

Really nice, thanks for sharing. First time I see that wreath: looks similar to RAD wreath IMO...Any idea of when it was introduced?

        Regards

Thanks Mil. Of the people I know here I suspect you would probably have a few gold & silver specimens of this "shorter" type lying around so dont be shy to cut in & share your knowledge/picts my friend.

            Salut

I believe it was used briefly in 1939

                Hello Jean-Claude,

Thank you for your kind words. I do have several speciments and have always wanted to put together a comprehensive taxonomy / classification. Unfortunately I've toned down collecting eagle insignias for quite a while now. My collection still resides but I've moved on to political badges. I'll try to post some eagle variants when I can. In the meantime, I'm also selling a few on e-stand, including some rarer cap insignias. Those are duplicates. I'm trying to collect just one per maker.

                Mil
