Perhaps this uniform was made for Göring while he held the rank of Generalfeldmarschall and later, after he was made Reichsmarschall on July 19,1940, he had the patches and boards changed to his new rank... The tailor's label in the waistband states that this uniform was made/completed on July 10, 1939...

That would explain the smaller size, not the plumper size when he was RM.

Interesting that the uniform breast eagle was a "gold colored screw-back breast eagle, which was constructed of .800 silver".

You would think the Reichsmarshall would have upgraded to the .999 solid gold version. Puzzelling.

If i recall this right i had excat this uniform in my hands arround 1998 or 1999. But not in US it was in Austria. At a Antik Dealer near Salzburg. And this guy was very well known for his Items (lets say that he always get high rank super items for prices what even at that time where cheap). If it is original or not everyones guess. It is too long ago to remember details but one thing i remember. He told me it will be sold to the US and for arround 85000 Schilling at that time. It was the Jacket and Trousers and i am 99% sure it was this one with exact that blue Lable inside.

From what I understand, this uniform had been in a museum in North America for many years, so it can't be the same one seen in Salzburg.

1998 until today are many years and i belive it was exactly this one i hold in my hands. Just a lot more dirty. Possible that there is the same one a secound time out there somewhere of course.
