      Hello friends,
      just want to show You my latest akquisition. This big aluminium eagle has a wingspan of 68 inches (or 170cm) and just came out of a private basement in southern Germany. The eagle is composed of 3 parts and is complete with no damages except traces of oxidation on the surface. Hope You enjoy.

              The only guess from the seller was, that it came from the area Ortenaukreis in Baden-Wurttemberg because his dad used to work there and might have gotten it there somewhere. No other information available. Until the death of his dad the seller did not even know the eagle.
              This is not a unique eagle. At least one of those (damaged) was sold at Craig Gottlieb auction about two years ago. So because it is not so special it will be almost impossible to find out where this eagle really came from. My guess is either from army barracks or party building.
              Would like to see an original foto of one of those eagles in use. But I don't think that I will ever find such a picture...

                        Incredible find, what a great eagle- especially fully intact and not damaged. I think that these enormous eagles are very rare- I have only ever seen two of this style (this one you post and the Craig Gottlieb one which was slightly broken) and two of the John T versions- the other of which was also broken. I am sure that there could be a few others out there and hope some get posted here.

                        In my opinion, this eagle is from the same maker as the John T 3-piece bird posted earlier - almost identical wreath in style, similar eagles head and 3 piece manufacture but this one you post is even larger than John T's large eagle.

                        Thanks so much for posting this amazing bird and sharing it with us.

                            Thank You all for Your compliments. I agree with Mike, that mine and Johns eagles are most probably from the same maker.

                            The last pictures shown are from Craig Gottliebs eagle. That one has some smaller parts broken off and some (deep?) cracks within oak leafs around the swastika which You cannot see on these pictures. But if You go to his auction archive You will find detailed pics.
                            To open a pinned thread for all kinds of original wall and desk eagles would be a great idea and I think Mike should start it because he is really deep into the subject. I really miss such a thread.
