A local friend of mine is downsizing his collection and offered to sell me his tab collection for $1600, there's a few hundred worth of Luftwaffe tabs but I have no idea what the political leaders tabs are worth these days. Whitman has some lusted at 600 a pair. This group has four matching pairs of political leaders tabs and a few individual tabs including one salty very high ranking officer tab. What would this case be worth roughly?

At least for the political side of the case....these are indeed original political leader collar tabs....but remember...Condition (and Rarity of material) is Everything. And each one of these political tabs, to a lesser or greater extant, by the photos provided, has suffered humidity and (or direct) water damage...which, in the world of cloth collector's, is (again) Everything. So with that in mind proceed to make an offer. Won't get into the price here, but the current tag seems a little high. There is some room to negotiate here, based on the damage described. Remember, these PL tabs should have crisp linear edges (yes even after 75 years) not rounded, with cord piping intact (not frayed)...and Regardless of what Dealers have listed for PL collar tabs at (way too high) retail prices, I'd haggle down (quite a bit) based on the condition, and what you are willing to pay for them and one day resell them for. I completely agree with Mr. Clark here, especially when it comes to how dealers have them priced. All tabs are original but they all have some sort of an issue. Hopefully you make the deal for a good, fair price!
