Gentlemen:

I hate to throw a wrench into this identification, but my initial reaction to the photos was that this kepi top color is sienna, not rose red. Sudmark used a more pinkish color, and the Alpenland and Donau Gruppes used sienna, which has a slight brownish tint to the pink. The colors of the SA are often hard to distinguish as there were manufacturers variations and photos often vary based upon lighting, background, etc. However, IMO this kepi is not from Sudmark, but from Alpenland or Donau, as both of those SA Gruppes also used the edelweiss. If the button color is gold, then Donau, if it is silver, then Alpenland, as the photo does not settle the button color for me.

In the "Verordnungsblatt der Obersten SA-führung" nr. 9 from September 19, 1938 the colors for Austria were mentioned:
Alpenland and Donau had "rotbraun"; Südmark had "rosarot". There is quite a difference between the two colors.
The shown cap is not "rotbraun"!

And yes colors can vary often. Sample-boards of colors give "rosarot" a shade for very light faded pink up to nearly a faded purple
shade.

I agree with Mr. Saris -
The color is entirely consistent with Ostmark, Sudmark, Oder.
Donau and Alpenland were less pink and more brown than this cap.

Note the difference in the SA kepis on page 7 of the thread shown above on this Political Organizations site on Political Kepis. The upper one shown by Pascal Bernard is in the SA color for Alpenland and Donau (consistent with both the Lagermutze eagles and the SA sporthemdabzeichen for those Gruppes), and the kepi just below is for Gruppe Sudmark (which is also consistent with the Lagermutze cap eagles and the SA sporthemdabzeichen for Sudmark and Ostmark). Certainly the cap shown above is rotbraun and the lower one is rosarot. Still, IMO the kepi shown in the photos on this thread is rotbraun.

There are no pink kepis on page 7.

There is no question that the kepi has a rose-pink color band, IMO.
The red-brown is a russet color that is completely different than rose-pink.

There ARE 2 kepis on page 2 from Pascal Bernard......
I think where he's going wrong is comparing those 2 kepis....
The top kepi looks so bright that it must be the photography, because it's almost the color of the Wachstandarte (Feldherrnhalle). But I don't think the Feldherrnhalle had an edelweiss. The lower cap is exactly like what I expect to see for Sudmark. If he PMs Pascal, I bet he'll confirm what Erich and others stated.

SA Kepi

The two kepis that I was referring to as shown on the Political Organizations Kepis thread on this Political Organizations forum were the postings by Pascal Bernard on 5-12-2008: "an other pink...Sudmark" and 5-12-2008: "second one." The numbering on my computer puts those on page 7, as the numbers go from newest "1" to oldest "8" on mine.

Clearly, these are two colors of pink. Again IMO, the "second one" is not Sudmark, but Alpenland or Donau. While the one labeled as from Sudmark is the rosarot color. Feldherrnhalle is a little darker carmine than the Sudmark rosarot.

I am attaching photos of multiple SA insignia in rotbraun for Alpenland and Donau, and multiple SA insignia in rosared for Sudmark and Ostmark. When comparing with the kepi originally posted for identification, you can compare and form your own judgment, but IMO this kepi is not Sudmark rosared.

Pascal's kepis..
1. Now........go back and look at the background color on Post #25 - that salmon-pink color is what Sudmark looks like.
It's almost identical to Pascal's 2nd cap.
2. Now.......compare the HILFSWERK NORDWEST OBERSTURMFUHRER COLLAR TAB THAT HAS RED/WHITE PIPING, TO THE SALMON-PINK BACKGROUND COLOR............
Like Erich said....Alpenland and Donau are darker. (Hildwerk Nordwest is same color)
I disagree with you on this, but it's understandable, as some SA color dyes are ambiguous....i.e., hard to discern.
To me...that lighter background color is much closer to Pascal's cap than the Alpenland/Donau/Hilfswerk Nordwest color.
