The experts bring forward their opinion that it is 100% fake.

Yet they ALL fail to bring forward 100% proof for that opinion.

    Shame on them.

What more proof do you need? Perhaps a pic of someone engraving it with the bogus engraving, attaching the British handset, or painting it red.

I find it odd that after the auction it's now deemed a fake, Where were the experts a month ago when the phone was at auction ? The phone was heavily advertised ,and was avail for all to see. I could give 2 Shi7s if it's real or fake , but I find it odd now all the afficionados put their 2 cents in..

You can find links to German collectors forums (not WAF) dating back to before this thread was started, with people taking the piss.
I very much doubt that the curator of the museum, the aficionado who has gone on record stating that it is fake and exactly why, is online each day trolling "Hitler`s Telephone" forum threads. Three weeks, from viral world wide attention to an article in a German newspaper, from Germans, about a NAZI item.... and this is "waiting.." No, you have no idea how these things work, 3 weeks, is lightning speed.

Maybe the papers waited till after the auction because they wanted the added joy of knowing some total Muppet shelled out Bigly for the fantasy phone with pathetic fable, making the story just that bit more interesting.

Doubts were raised almost immediately, it just took a while to get traction in the press.

              Hi,

i will point out that the phone was available for study since the Max Show 2016, as per AA newsletter mail from October 5, 2016.
More study work could have been done by specialists at that time, i don't know if it was discussed in late 2016 already (it seemed that no).

The problem is that people started to work on it when AA made the official announcement of the sale in early 2017. 3 months were lost.

              See You

I'm curious if anyone contacted Bill , and advised him of there suspicions... I can't believe they would list something fake unless they had some kind of provenance.. I saw the phone up close when I was at the MAX last year, and must say it looked like a toy phone up close, nevertheless some poor schmuck is out 195k if it does turn out to be a fake... This phone really hurts the Hobby , as it just goes to show you how many Fantasy or BS pieces are out out there , and how many can be fooled... I am so glad I don't collect the pieces 99% of WA collect , as I'll be damned if I get screwed by a fake!!!

You only need the fact that it`s stamps point back to it being made for the post office, and the auctioneers contradicting accounts, starting with "presented by the Wehrmacht" and later "presented by Luftwaffe Aces" to know that it`s all bullsheet.
The media know it too, thats why the Sun starts off with: Telephone ‘used by Adolf Hitler to order millions to their deaths’ branded fake....

And as well, what about the Hog numbers in post 79? That would be a Sunday full page on it`s own.

Thats after the fact, not 3 months before hand... Plenty of the so called pros and experts were at the MAX last year where the phone sat for all to view... Im sure there can't be many phone experts that were at the show, but if Bill got bad feedback from the phone Im certain he wouldn't of listed it, like I said I could give 2 shi7s if its real or fake , as I have no dog in the fight...

None of the guys come forward with 100% evidence for their claims.

In fact they never even examined it in person - ridiculous and very expert-like.

                          Hi,

Thorsten i agree that to check an item in person is mandatory for many items (nota : for myself, the SS postcards from Belgium are an excellent example), but some parts of the phone didn't need that : it is easy to find that the handset was not like the other black phones from the Bunker (and other German administrations/FHQ etc), and that the red paint is still a big mystery and very strange feature.

By the way did the Dutch collector and specialist check the exact content of the phone (the wires and electric system) ? I Don't think so ?

There is no second example around to compare it with each other regarding authenticity.

Did you win the auction? How many old phone specialists do you think attend the MAX show?

No matter how we look at this - one thing is fore sure:

All of the experts worldwide who claim - even without having inspected it in person! - that the auctioned AH phone is a fake and who cannot back up that claim with 100% rock-solid proof are facing quite something:

Instead of burning the very successful sale of the phone they are burning their own scientific reputation.
