        Now THAT'S a man-cave

        Wow, what's the admission fees?
Children under 12 and Vets free?
How did you get those showcases?
        How about a virtual pass?

          Hi TimC
well I built almost all display cases myself, a few a bought but since they are so expensive I tryto make stuff myself. Of course vets and kids are free and I have many HJ vets come thru. They are telling their story and this is sooooo cool, history first hand! love it!!
Admison is only about $4, if I give guides tours ( about 1,5h) I charge $7.
The building was given to us( me and the hometown museum of Sandhofen I work with) after debating and begging for 2! years. we do not have to pay rent but all other stuff coming up ,like water, electicity and lots more. We are not making enough to pazy all just by admission fees we have to relay on donations. Hopefully this year will be the first one which we could be making it if all planned tours ect go thru.
But I am happy that we are so well accepted and that there are no problems.
          Regards
          Dirk

Wow Dirk. You have done a great job assembling and setting up this museum. Very neat to see it all on display.

Very nice. I would love to visit the museum - where is it located and where would be the nearest airport for our international friends?

Very nice. I'm sure this brings back fond memories for many of us who were stationed in Mannheim. I was stationed at Funari barracks with CEGE and came back later with my wife who worked at 5th Signal Command.

Could you post some better pictures of your female displays.

                  Warm regards Jim

                    Hi Military
Mannheim and the Museum is located about 40 Min south of Frankfurt Int Airport or 1h east of Frankfurt Hahn airport (Ryan Air)
I will take a pic from the female display as I get to the Museum. 5th Sig is well remembered, as I wrote the book on the Coleman Bks and airfield history a few years ago, being in the Tower (3/58th AVN) and airfield historian back then. I am now at Wiesbaden Airfield and are starting my researches for a book on the WW2 airfield.
                    Cheers Dirk

                        Dear Dirk,

Sorry for the late reply after one year since this thread has been resurrected. For sure I will try to visit the museum and contact you if I ever have the chance to visit Frankfurt again. I have been to the city for business but not to Mannheim. Perhaps one day...
