Means something along the lines of "entering a border area and driving is prohibited". The sign looks fake to me and with artificial wear.

It must not be related directly to WW2. It's just a plate near a (state) border. Dated 1933-1945

This special type of gothic letters look very unusual for the time. More the type of Imperial era. So have doubts about originality.

Agree--this type face is used, it seems, on a lot of eastern European fakery. IMO not good.

I've never seen a WWII Nazi sign where the black enamel is faded like this.
Enamel on signs like this are basically made of a form of glass, which doesn't really fade like that.
