Opinions on HJ shirt

Hi. I have questions about the rear "flap" that is a different shade. I have never seen such a thing. Has anyone seen this? What's the point of it? Thanks!

It's been added==there is normally no seam across the rear side in that area. I would guess the HJ kid's mother added it because the shirt was torn there or it kept untucking. Or it could have been added later due to damage, etc.
