    Deutscher Frauenhilfsdienst Membership Badge

    Hi all !
I ask you to give your professional opinion on the originality.

Viki, It will be interesting to see how others respond to this one. As a LONG time Frauenschaft collector (among other things) I would say that it isn't any good but it sure is made nicely. Over the years the ones that I have trusted have no marks on the back. I'm not an expert...just one with some experience. Mine has no markings. Mike

Yes this will be interesting as I thought there were 2 types the unmarked with the safety pin attachment (?) and the example above. But that is only from what I have read and as we know sometimes what has been written has been proven to not be correct.

        Hello,
I have wondered about these badges for awhile now because the markings on the reverse look to me to be the exact same as the markings found on the bogus 1935 olympic auto racing badges & a few other enamelled badges that are considered bogus. While I realize there might be other reasons why a badge would be considered bogus it strikes me odd that the markings on the back of some badges deemed good, look just like the markings on some badges that are considered fake. Thanks for any info.

Bill, I agree totally with what you are saying and that is why I question this badge. Throughout the years I have seen so many enamel badges come out in quantities from certain dealers.....the numbered Red Cross oval badges with colored borders is a great example. They are so good but are all fake, but now the passage of years brings credibility. The markings on this Frauenhilfsdienst badge are just like other reproduction or fantasy badges.

                Hello,
Mike thank you for your reply. I have always liked the design of this badge but as I said had reservations about it's authenticity so I never acquired one. This is actually the first thread I recall where the originality of this badge had been brought up. You also mention the red cross nurses badges, I had two of them & up until a year or so ago I had never heard anyone question their originality. MIght you be able to show a picture of an original of this badge(the one starting this thread)? Not being a badge collector per se I only remember seeing these badges with the markings as shown in this thread. As usual this is the best forum around for good information!
                thanks again for the info

Just to set some things straight.....I am not an expert! I have been collecting a long time and have opinions based on seeing a lot of items through the years and acquiring much of my collection from veterans who brought items back right after the war. Of course this can be discounted by those who say that veterans also brought back things that were reproduced for them after the war. So I go a lot with my gut and not an exact science. Here is my Frauenhilfsdienst badge. I like it. My friend Don Scowen, an advanced collector and researcher just told me that he had this badge marked by Stubbe like Viki's initial post. If he likes it, then I guess that I do too. I like mine and don't need any more. If it was a KC or something like that, then I would go with exact measurements and weight and etc etc, but this is a cool badge. I personally do not like the one posted above this with the big letters----in my humble opinion......
