Lattimer pinned a K. marine o.r. eagle on it for display....the orig was pulled off by a trophy hunter and on doing so made a small tear which looks like its been repaired

Whatever the reason, Hitler was frugal, and had his socks that wore holes in them darned. This was also in his book, so possibly socks that were darned may have been sentimental and worn at some period that was significant to him, as he could surely have new socks on every day.
As to why this jacket has holes, is anybody's guess. If it is from lattimers collection , it is authentic. The inside tag is shown in the book. I have a copy as do others here.
Who knows what the tunic will bring...regardless, I recall seeing in photos the pants worn by hitler on the 20th of July that were shredded, but later captured by the British, they unfortunately were burned by some fool. Imagine what those would be worth if they had not.
Heck the liberty bell was once sold for scrap brass, then later saved by someone , so stupid is as stupid does .( Forrest Gump )

Of course he had many tunics. And I'm not saying this one didn't belong to him. But it's not the same as being stated in the book.

I believe it starts at 30,000 euros. That's by memory from seeing it a few weeks ago. Plus 23% fee.

                              Hallo Robert

You are right, but this is not hobby, this is only a financial investment. It must have been bought by a Chinese or Saudi bank. The hobby has died since for a normal, dirty, torn cap or for a common, half-broken medal someone asks hundreds / thousands of dollars / euros. And in the meantime, eBay continues to censor the eagles, pushing the collectors into the arms of the auction houses or pseudo-private sellers who buy and sell at a frenetic pace (see the prices of this E-stand ...) to get rich with objects that some decades ago ended quietly in dustbins. This is a losing battle ... Just my opinion of course.

I don't believe the mythos of AH will die any time soon. Common stuff in our hobby, yes, but not this kind of caliber item.
