Thats interesting, so the faker would have to be in the Kurland Kessel in 1944. As this was found in a farm house there (Free of charge may I add!).

Please elaborate why you think its 'fake'....

The cross in the shield is East Prussia.

              Why is this a fake?

As I always ask; If this is a fake, where are the others?

I do not need to and more than enough is shown in your photos as bad as they are. Free would be the right price though.

                  thanks guys,

                  J. Wraith - as for not wanting to debate begs to ask the question of why your on a forum?

Anyone can make single statements like you have done, without back up or any direction then your comments are in fact garbage/without substance.

I would appreciate you take the time to tell me your concerns with the plate, as for the photos they should be adequate enough for this purpose.

As for Price - It was found in Saldus in Kurland a few weeks ago - Free from other nature.

                    Hello Chris,

Your thread is interesting and I think to ask for opinions there'll always be some strong opinions but that's what the forum is for. What I do not condone is personal attacks but so far in all fairness J. Wraith has pointed out some issues with the plate.

So since you accused me of being a lazy bugger flipper -

And I know its off topic....

I would like to share with the forum a medal awarded to me by the Latvian state for my work in finding missing soldiers and giving them a final resting place in 2015. Not all of us are evil note takers and fakers in Europe! Plenty of fakes come out of the USA as well!

                      Only one of 400 Awarded...

I accused you of nothing and you twisted my explanation for not wanting to list the issues with the plate due to the origin of the plate being eastern Europe into me being a racist when it was actually to prevent educating them in what their doing wrong and allowing them to rob collectors with fakes that would be harder to detect.

So because eastern europe is loaded with shysters who manufature fakes and feed off collectors somehow I am a racist. Unfortunately its the truth and the area is a haven for fakery. And then you announce it was all just for fun and debate, no. There are things to know, things to look for, and the way things were done, and your plate does not meet the criteria and you knew it but wanted to start a fight or debate and get information. You cant have it, look at the plate. Its wrong not for one reason, not for two, but over 3 reasons.
Congrats on your award and giving back to the community is always admirable.

But since your not sharing the in-depth secrets, which your entirely entitled too not disclose anything.

I may add that I think it was likely a trench art item/or something made by a soldier... as it was found in Kurland by my friend.

Nobody is trying to sell it, nobody is trying to say if it's a text book original or whatever... Just wanted reasonable debate.

I think the thread has reached its death...

I will not be posting anything again here on this thread.

                          Thanks Guys...
                          Chris,

In posts 2 and 3 you show photos. The maker mark is illegible and cant be made out although I tried. That meant the next photo would be the exterior obverse rim because in post 4 you state that the faker must have been at a cerrtain place in 1944. But the plate is not made in 1944, it has to be before or after the war. The answer if not on the maker mark would be exterior obverse, that photo is not good enough to get what I needed either.

Then you have this black and green paint job where two different types of paint are used, the black and green consistent with a host of fakes out of eastern europe of various design and then the swastika which is of course awful and surrounded by a green roundel. The green and black appear to be the same but you shot straight down and essentially disaalowed a view of how that paint lays on the surface of the obverse.... I told you your photos were insufficient and you told me they should be fine. Their not.

So imagine walking into court with your client and not bringing your brief case and trying to tell the judge you really do not need the evidence photos and see what she says.. Thats what you asked for here and then demanded answers on why I called fake. I called fake because I believe its fake, you left your briefcase at home along with your clients alibi for 1944. Did you really expect to win your case without coming to court and by demanding a verdict.

Its a dinner plate, its not made for display purposes, its not made in 1944 and the paint is no doubt a problem.

I'm closing this thread as it has strayed from the item itself. I've edited out unrelated comments as well.
