    Hospital plate

    Hello Guys,

I bought this plate from a local auction for £15.

It looks like it has a hospital stamp on it. It does not look like a food plate as it has a thick base to it. My wife served me snacks on it tonight....a real taste of history!

Could anyone give me an opinion what it was used for and the history of the hospital it came from....

    Thanks in advance

    Mike

        thanks

        Appreciate any comments.....

it does not look like a food plate and going by the stamp looks hospital related. I tried googling the hospital but could find nothing.....

It has a very thick base to it......

It is a food plate--the large section is usually for the meat, fish, or fowl, while the smaller areas are for vegetables, bread, applesauce, etc. Much older commercial crockery was made thicker and heavier than that made for the home.
