my gut feeling says no on this stein..never something like this before...dont like the prints and the Fonts used. Does it have a Liter mark on the side?
Is the petwer Lid marked anywhere?

I think the lid might be original, but the stein is definitely modern and too narrow for the lid.

The Stein is modern 1975 for Hierls 100 Birthday.
1875-1975

so the stein in the museum is a fake also?....just wanted to be sure I understood the reply;;;;

Technically, it's not a fake, since it didn't exist during the III Reich. It's not a fantasy piece either, since doesn't pretend to be from the period (since Hierl's birthday wouldn't occur for 30 years). It could be called a Hierl commemorative stein produced sometime after 1975.

It's both, a fake/fantasy piece. Seems to be no end to this stuff.
