Library Book Plate Ex Libris Franz Pohl

I recently bought a nice grouping with some scarce documents. Included was this library book plate for Franz Pohl. My question is, who is this guy ? He had to be a wealthy individual or upper rank officer. The problem is I can't seem so locate any information on him. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is a great piece of Third Reich art. Thanks for looking.

I'm not familiar with the name "Franz Pohl," though a Google search discloses that SS-Obergruppenführer Oswald Pohl was one of eight children in his family. Knowing that the NSDAP attracted many sets of brothers and sisters, especially during the Kämpfzeit, this person may have been related to Oswald. Just a thought...

    Good luck on your research,

    Br. James

Unless there were other papers in the grouping indicating that Franz Pohl was wealthy or high ranking, having a book plate made (or having your name printed on a stock bookplate as might be the case here) was not uncommon in Germany, or, for example, in the US. Certainly a poor person would not bother with book plates and probably wouldn't have (or lend out) many books, but it wouldn't be surprising that this person might just be a middle class book lover.

Thanks for the response Erich. I think it is a interesting and cool piece of vintage artwork. Most of these I have encountered have always been named to ranking
members of the party. Maybe just a average Joe in this case. Still a book lover.
