I was wondering what you all thought of this eagle? It is fairly large and weighs around 30 pounds. Thank you in advance for looking!

No markings that I can see, the back is rough. I believe it is plaster of some sort, with a hard coating.

I'm thinking that this is a casting taken from an original piece; the lack of detail in the wreath is concerning to me and the completely unfinished reverse appears to be indicative of a casting...IMO, of course! It's an attractive design coming from the later years of the NSDAP, when the eagle greatly outgrew the wreath and swastika in design importance. It would look very nice in most any collector's study!

It's hard to say with a plaster molded piece, since it's nearly impossible to tell the age of it once it's fully cured. In any case, it looks very impressive and IMO it's not a common pattern.
