I wanted to show these two beautiful plaques I picked up from a friend. He found them on a trip to Germany. Both are made of inlaid wood and signed on the reverse "Karl Hippel 1933." The Hitler one is about 15 inches tall and the Hindenburg one slightly smaller, about 11 inches. It's impressive work, every color shade is a separate piece of wood veneer, precisely inlaid. The plaques show age and I have no reason to doubt that these were made in 1933, and by a talented craftsman. The Hitler one has some wormholes (on the reverse only) and a very tiny damaged spot on one corner. I need to decide if I am going to keep these or sell them. I know that this is a tough question to ask because this is unique art and the value is subjective, but what might a reasonable E-Stand sale price be for this little set? Any comments at all on these would be welcome and appreciated.

The Germans did do this and have seen a couple over the years although not exactly the same. Hindenburg brings little money most often unless you have a high end piece, market is pretty much flooded with Hitler propaganda pieces of every form and are flat really. Couple hundred for the pair maybe 50.00 on Hindy and 150.00 or so on Uncle Adolf.Comment
