UNIFORM REMOVED HJ DIAMOND w/ SNAPS...

From a larger vet estate lot...first one of these I've had w/ the four corner snaps for attachment to the uniform sleeve...Not a rare item by any stretch, but a neat feature never the less...standard BEVO weave, w/ "Ges. Gesch." still visible to the reverse. The snaps appear to be hand-sewn. Just a variation I'd suppose, but I found it interesting just the same....

A good example. I've had several different pieces of H.J. insignia with snaps on the reverse to allow for removal during laundering.

Thanks gents. I think it’s a nice item too.

          Hi Milton,

One often finds HJ raute (clothing diamonds) and also district triangles with snaps sewn in, as it was time consuming for the mothers of the children to be removing and then re-sewing insignia after a clothing item was laundered.
I think the snaps add more provenance to your item, and while not "rare" gives the insignia a more period "feel".

          Best wishes,

          John.

Hi John, thanks for your feedback. I think so too, as I've always been more fond of items that show some actual use over ones that sat out the period in either a depot, or the back of a sock drawer....
