Here's a period photo of this honor badge for merits of the "NSRK" (National-Sozialistisches Reiter Korps = national socialistic cavalry corps). The photo is from a special edition about the SA of the magazine "Illustrierter Beobachter" (http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=456255).

It's the first time for me to see such an honor badge. Sorry I can't help about the value.

          Gary,

The prices of these are all over the place depending on condition and whether or not cased. In average condition they are priced at €3500, in great condition and cased expect to pay €6500.

I would value yours with a missing pin and hinge at €2000. Trouble is that you need to find someone who is looking for one and they aren't that sought after.

          Just my opinion though.

I agree with Stan-- it's without question a scarce/rare award, however it's not one that is in great demand, it's not the most attractive award, and the few people I've known who had one preferred to find one in better condition (that is, with the pin and hinge intact). I was thinking about $1500.00, which is a bit more than you allowed on the deal, so I think you did well.

A rare and lovely badge that I would love to own.

Very nice Cupal badge and original. Easy to restore by a III. Reich restorer. Fakes do have anyway a different horsetail and by that easy recognizable!
This very nice badge, the Deutsches Reiterführer-Abzeichen, was announced in the Verordnungsblatt der Obersten SA-Führung, number 6
from April 19, 1937 (number 98, page 38): zur Förderung der Reit- und Fahrausbildung vor der Dienstzeit. The order was sanctioned by Hitler in
Berlin on February 23, 1937. The design was from Paul Casberg (PC).

Here is my cased example of this badge. It is unusual to find these in good condition as most of them have the silver/aluminium finish worn down to the copper.

Gary's example is in excellent condition despite the damage to the back.
