    SA arm insignia ''Alte Kämpfer''??

    Hi Guys,

    SA is not my collecting area so just to be 100% sure, this is an arm insignia for the SA right? Alte Kämpfer if I'am correct.

      When the chevron was replaced by the arm stripes for longtime service, the old SA chevron was further worn by the NSKK. In the "Military Advisor"-magazine once an in-depth article about chevrons and stripes was pubished, many many years ago!

        Interesting info; I thought that the chevron with the red stripes was specific for the SA

          No, it was for the NSKK for example mentioned in the "Anzugsordnung für das NSKK" from January 11, 1935: einen Winkel aus einer 1.0 cm breiten, mit Rot durchwebten Goldtresse.

          Later the chevron had brown stripes.

            So let me get this straight, it could be a NSKK one? Or an early SA one.


            SA-Ehrenwinkel
            Der im Februar 1934 eingeführte SA-Ehrenwinkel lag auf einem hellbraunen Untergrund. Er bestand aus einer durchwirkten goldfarbenen Aluminiumtresse, die zwei ca. 1 cm breite rote Trennstreifen aufwies.[1][2] Der Ehrenwinkel wurde allen Mitgliedern der SA verliehen, die der NSDAP vor dem 30. Januar 1933 eingetreten waren und damit eine Mitgliedsnummer bis 300.000 besaßen.[3] Der Dienstgrad war unerheblich und so wurde dieser Winkel sowohl von Mannschafts- wie auch von Offiziersdienstgraden gleichermaßen getragen.

            Doch bereits im September 1934 wurde dieser Ehrenwinkel durch das neue System der sogenannten „Ehrenstreifen“ ersetzt. Diese zeigten die Angehörigkeit zur NSDAP durch eine Vielzahl unterschiedlich breiter Streifen an und wurden an beiden Unterarmen über dem Ärmelaufschlag der Uniformjacke getragen

              The chevron was only worn for a short period of time only. Introduced in February 3, 1934 (letter Der Oberste SA-Führer I Nr. 1707/34), but not available before February 20. Abolished with the order for the service-stripes (Verordnungsblatt der Obersten SA-Führung, nr. 37 from October 15, 1934. Page 1, nr. 4). The SS did wear a likewise chevron (silver with black stripe), which was contineously worn.

              In the "Mitteilungsblatt der RZM", nr. 28 from December 1934 it was said: the former SA-chevron however is to be worn by the NSKK. Stocks are for that reason not worthless, while they are purchased by NSKK-members.
              Apparently there were enormous stocks and no new chevrons had to be manufactured. For the NSKK a chevron with brown stripes came into being in 1936 (according the dress-regulation).

              The shown one in this thread was probably never issued at all!

              I do not know where the expression Ehrenwinkel comes from??!! In original and official documentation it was not used, but just as Abzeichen für altgediente Angehörige der SA. Not even in the OSAF-letter from February 3, 1934 the word Ehrenwinkel was used. So it is a wrong expression. Occasionally it was referred as "Winkel der alten Kämpfer"
