    BDM Jacket (Kletterweste)

Bought this BDM Jacket a couple of weeks ago. Comparing it to others shown on the forum, it seems to match up well. Only thing I'm unsure about is the lining - the colour is a slight off-white with pocket and it appears never to have had a maker's label. Have members seen such a lining on other jackets. At first I thought it maybe a replacement lining, but overall condition of jacket and lining are the same. Any information welcome.

I've seen some with variant linings. In some cases they may have been home made, made as cottage industry pieces, or pre- or early- RZM.

Looks like an original Kletterweste to me.
However, the insignia seem to be post-war applied.

Priced at $750 on Shea's site. You say you have just bought it? From Shea? or are you considering buying it? Or have you consigned it already? They can be found much cheaper and with RZM tags intact for less if you are patient. Agree that the insignia appears to have been reapplied at some point. If you simply must have one then I suppose spending $750 on it is up to the buyer. I've seen very nice examples on the Estand selling in the $500 range. Sellers are free to charge whatever price they wish, but for me it's too expensive for what it is.

Darin - As I wrote, I bought it - no big mystery, didn't buy from Shea, as I live in Germany, I hardly buy anything from America or Estand, one's too far away, the others usually over-priced, always try to get things whenever possible here. Picked it up on a German military forum from a private member, paid €330 = $360.
                Regards

Upon taking a closer look at the example on Shea's site I was incorrect in thinking this jacket was the one up for sale there. Shea's appears to be a different jacket with the same Gebiet triangle and black thread attaching the diamond. Not the same jacket. Odd to see two of these from Ostmark with that black thread attaching the diamond.
