The gorget is okay as far as this is possible to see, due to its rather bad condition. This is a real pity. The gorget from Ron, which is covered in my book about gorgets, is a beauty and a good original.
One of the best ways to detect if such a gorget is a good one (there exist fakes that are nearly as good as an original one), is when one feels the edge for the loop to which the chain is positioned. Is this edge rounded, then the gorget is okay; is the edge sharp, then you have bought a problem! It is of course a pity when such detail is "opened" in a book, as I did. Fakers will read it and adapt this to the good standards. In a few years you cannot see any difference anymore between good and bad!
