Bad, IMO. I think it's a complete fake--construction is not normal, badge is odd, piping is incorrect, and I've never heard of a white, 'Olympic' SA kepi.

                Kepi

Rare SA Psychiatric Ward kepi. No - I don't think so. The good news is that the eagle and button are authentic.
Wrong shade of blue if this is supposed to be a Hochland kepi. Aren't they the only SA Gruppe that wore the Edelweiss?
This particular blue is much closer to "Oberrhein" blue. As Erich states, wrong construction also.

This was just in the Grenadier Auction--did you win it?

                    Kepi

Did WHO win it? Not me.
I'm still wondering why an Oberrhein or Warthe kepi has an edelweiss.
That blue color is certainly NOT from Hochland, as the edelweiss suggests.

No, I was directing my question to UScollect.

I don't think the reserve was met, as bidding went to $1700:

In October 2013 a white kepi like this was discussed at the War Relics Forum. A few persons, including Jenkins (as the cap came from him) were convinced this cap was real and original. I know who bought the Jenkins-cap and now another one turns up. During a visit to my friend I have inspected the cap for quite a time. I did not have a good feeling at all! But he still believes he owns an original cap.

I gave reasons why this cap could not be for the Olympics, nor that such cap was ever mentioned anywhere in a magazine, the UM or the Mitteilungsblatt der RZM. I am still convinced the both caps are bogus and someone made a clever move to get an easy buck! One of the reasons something is wrong: the eagle, which is the 1937 pattern, the games were in 1936. I do not like the blue material and a variation Edelweiss with red cross, which must let us believe the cap is from Hochland and/or for a hospital orderly. The piping and material seem wrong to me as Erich B. says also and I agree with him.

For me there is a lot wrong with this cap. If I would have had this cap during my writing for any of the headgear-volumes, I surely would have given all my thoughts and findings, but would not have mentioned this cap to be original. It is not worth to discuss this cap any further (not by me anyway). The owners think it is okay. Why further bother! For years I am looking for a photograph where such cap was worn. No result. Don't you think no magazine or press agency would have shown it in those days, as they did with the white Robin Hood cap for the RAD or the rare white visored cap for the olympic members?

Peter Jenkins is one of the kindest persons I ever met in this hobby. Spezialized in SS, but SA is something else. I don't know the owner of Grenadier's, but know he has a good reputation.

But, you would expect that if SA is not their main specialism, they consult someone who has the knowledge, and could advice them.

This kepi although is so bad, a collecter with less experience should know, unless he's starts in this hobby yesterday.

Standard principle for me alsways is. Believe only what you see. Untill a period source, this is kepi is bad!
