Hi William,

Looks good so far, but can you take good, straight on shots of just the medal like this.

Is it 3 piece construction, with obverse and reverse medallion separately applied? Any maker mark on the ring?

No mark in the ring.
Sorry, but I did not understand the question of 3 pieces of construction.
It seems to be one piece. I've had some of these medals in hand, heave and light, and never noticed more than one piece construction.
I had one time one this medal with PKZ code in the ring. Is it correct? This medal is one award of NSDAP, PKZ is one code of Wehrmacht medals. Can I to have one PKZ code in one NSDAP medal?

Hi William,

Sometimes, you will find the center wreath/eagle medallion was a separately attached piece. Same thing with the reverse, sometimes the wreath medallion was a separate piece as well. This is usually found on zink badges like yours. The earlier Cupal or brass examples seem to be one piece.

Regarding the maker mark, the NSDAP medals were not governed by the PKZ so when you do find a number on the ring or on the carton, it is the respective RZM number. For NSDAP awards, it would be the M11 code list (i.e., if you have a medal mark "8" on the ring, it stands for M11/8 which is Eugene Schmidhaussler.
