I beg to differ, Anders -- there is much to enjoy in this fine example, especially for those who admire sport artifacts of the Third Reich!

Many thanks for sharing this with us!

          Wrestling, not gymnastics.

                  Hello.

                  Do you own this stein.

I have some doubts about it.

                  Regards,
                  Chris.

                    No, been offered it.
Was found at a flea market in Sweden.

                      Ah okay.

To me it looks like a modern stein (post 1950) with an inscripted lid done recently (last 10 years or so).

The script looks like it was done over blemished metal which has tarnished over time.

If you look on ebay, there is quite a few similar steins (4,500 on my view) a lot of which could have been sexed up even if it is for wrestling. Again, looking at that it looks very Militaristic for 1937.

The base marking doesn't look like the earlier markings you can see.

All my opinion of course. Sorry if it adds dampness to the excitement.

I think it is original, I have checked the background with the picker that found it.
And in that area in Sweden it was found the winner in wrestling free style 1937 lived in the area. And the European masterships that year, was in Munchen!

                          Hello Anders.

As I said, it's just my opinion.

Either way, enjoy the Stein. I'm having a beer now so prosit!

                          Best regards,
                          Chris.

Lid and Stein are fine and period. The Thing is only the engraved Lid gives it any better value. Without this its a 5-10EUR Stein with luck on ebay.
Seen as a Sports Prize from the 30s i would value it around 70 - 120EUR if you find the right collector...
