Can anyone ID this eagle patch?

I wonder what this bird is for?

    7" wingspan. That's about 18cm.

    Nice yellow stitching.

Other have suggested a pennant or a cape, but does anyone know for sure?

    Many thanks.

Is this perhaps in the wrong section? Not a political eagle at all?

      Any insight would be helpful.

Looks Wehrmacht, but head facing wrong way? If there was a Heer Cape this would be the closest to a cape eagle, but there wasnt..Only capes with eagles are for SS,Luftwaffe,Diplomatic and Kreigs.

          Thank you wewelsburg.

So at least I sort of know where to look. Maybe capes.

It came back to the US in the suitcase of a Major in the 8th Air Force, and he brought back a bunch of Luftwaffe stuff, and some British aviation stuff too. There were a few political items as well though. I know this isn't Luftwaffe... right?

Could this be a pennant eagle of some kind?

I thought it might be Kriegsmarine as all the Kriegs badge eagles face to the left instead of the right.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Are we sure this isn't a Patch King product ... the weave is similar to what I believe were their products ?

It reminds me of an unfinished eagle for a triangular command flag for automobile. The highlighting is not complete.

Thanks guys. Bob, I'll look into that.

I don't know what the "patch king" is, but this patch came back with a large USAAF 8th AF Major's group I just pulled completely fresh out of the woodwork that contained a bunch of other insignia and some very valuable authentic TR-era medals. I even know the date he brought this stuff home because I have the receipt and his travel papers.

When the Prussians made Caparison Stars they made two types, one for each side of the saddle. The idea was to have both eagles looking forward:

Is it possible this eagle was manufactured looking the other way because it was intended to ride on the left pennant on the front of a vehicle?

In other words, so it would face forward on the left side?
