    The wearing of the Edelweiss by the HJ was for the Austrian districts ordered to be worn upon the collar and not the cap, according to regulations. This is the flower with stem and no swastika;
    this in contrary to the Hochland Edelweiss, which was allowed to be worn upon all forms of HJ-headgear, as worn by members from the Hochland district only. At left in the middle of the lower part for the field-cap
    or even upon the band for the visored cap, just near the lowest seam. This is the form with swastika and no stem. This form of Edelweiss was not specifically an SA form.

    September 30, 1938 it is literally said: Im Gebiet Hochland wird an allen Mützen ein Edelweiss getragen. Es sitzt in der Mitte der linken Aussenseite der Mütze, dicht am untersten Rand. Die Bestimmungen über das
    Edelweiss der ostmärkischen HJ werden noch bekanntgegeben.

      Thanks again for your clarification. The use of the edelweiss by various organizations is quite interesting. However, it can obviously be misused by unscrupulous "collectors"!

        hmmm, I may have done a wong 'un here then. I have this early 30s SA Hochland Kepi with an Edelweiss flower on it. Should the flower in fact have a swastika on it?

          According to the official regulations yes. The swastika form was noted in the Mitteilungsblatt der RZM from June 1934 and mentioned in the SA dress-regulation from that year.

          I have seen early photos where the flower did not have the swastika however!
