NSDAP 15 Year Long Service Award

    Posted for Tom Durante ..

    15 year with it's ribbon ..

    the reverse ..

    Some detail shots ..

You must forgive the number of photos, each gives another view of details, frosting, enamel or polished highlights ...

The only fault I can see is that it's been dropped at some point onto it's 6 o'clock arm which has dinted the corner, given that the condition is the best I believe I've ever seen I'll allow it that one indiscretion.
    Hope you like it.

    Cheers, Ian.

Gorgeous Ian!! Thanks very much for posting your medal, has almost all its white frosted finish remaining which seems hard to come by these days. I don't think the ding detracts at all from the medal and wouldn't have noticed it if you didn't mention it. Nice length of ribbon too, excellent my friend.

Any maker mark on this one?

    Thanks

    Tom
If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

I think it is unknown maker number 1 according to Thomas list but i'm not 100 % sure.

I've seen the eagle's head style attributed to Deumer ? Anyway it's unmarked and came without a ribbon, fortunately Giel had a matching ribbon which I bought.

Depending on my mood it's the highlight of my collection (other times it's the little Deumer Prinzen Spange in it's LDO box .... I can sit and look at that and NEVER get tired of it's beauty)

        Sorry !

Very nice indeed. The cobalt blue enamel on the 15yr awards is my favorite.

            Hi guys,

Here is my recently arrived 15. Really nice in hand, and the scan really brings out the textured surface under the enamel work. There is a mark on the ring, but I cannot make it out. It doesn't match any of the known marks (2, 7, 30, etc.). And that makes sense because the eagle design is different than these known types. Looking through my files, I have only found 2 other 15 Yr. that match this eagle design so I think it could be a relatively uncommon type. What do you guys think?

Hope you guys like it as much as I do.

            Thanks

            Tom

Closeup of the medal, very nicely detailed eagle design IMO. Medal itself is made from tombak/brass which was then silver plated then frosted.

Also the maker mark, can't make it out even after rotating it every which way...

Thanks for posting a 'Top Shelf' example, I love that frosting and like Erich, the 15 year is easily my favorite as well. They look even more amazing in natural sunlight.

She's a beauty Tom ... looks like an upside down '2' to me ?

I'm resigned to never owning a genuine 25 year award and won't pay the daft money people want for a post-war 'Souval' piece ... but then again I never thought I'd own a genuine Luftschutz I and one came along out of the blue so who knows ...

                  Cheers, Ian.
