    HJ Drum?

I have been offered this HJ Drum. I am not familiar with Instruments at all. Does it look ok? What condition is it in? Does it look like that parts are missing? Any idea of value ($) range? Anything else you notice would be appreciated. Thank you for your help and comments. Jurgen

Since nobody replied there is either not much to say about this, I posted this in the wrong section, or there is just not a lot of interest. So anything you can help me with is very much appreciated. If this is posted in the wrong section let me know where I should post this? I am certainly not perfect. Thank you, Jurgen

Most of these type drums ( mfg circa early 1900 to 1940s) were civilian drums used and painted by the Hitlerjugend . red for HJ and black for DJ . In very good condition , I have seen them sell for up to 150 US dollars , The one pictured is in well used condition , value maybe 50 US dollars .

Looks like a period piece, steel fittings are a good sign, as for cost, if you could get it for $50 then its a bargain, when i collected HJ items years ago there were not too many about and i paid quite a bit more for my examples, mind you i have managed to purchase 5 in the past couple of months and i paid around 60 euros each and sold a couple for £100, so they do seem to have decreased in price. One in perfect condition with makers stamp and date to the brass/copper body i still belive would be around 200 euro, give or take a few euros.

It is nigh on impossible to say whether a given side drum was used by the HJ. Anyone who says otherwise is going to have to provide some proof that their drum is "HJ" and not SA or scouts or any number of pre and post-war organisations. It is simply not enough to say "well, it's red/white and it looks old so it's HJ".
