question: Is it this armband they wearing in the period picture? If so it is the first period proof that I see. Were they only for use on civilian cloths? And how does it comes that so many (mine included) are found in pristine condition?

    Regards, Wim
It is likely that as the war situation deteriorated, manpower was rushed in to the military making these armbands obsolete. I do not believe I have ever seen one showiung signs of wear. It is evident that production of these far exceeded demand.

I can believe it's the only one known--I've never seen or heard of one like this before. Fantastic piece and the condition appears excellent. Congratulations on another unique find!

Of course! I've got some of this Wehrmannschaft series of post cards and now I remember that I had noticed the seam years ago when I first bought them. I completely forgot about that!
