I picked this up at the Max show sometime in the 90's. The marble base is not original to the award as the Vet that brought it back had it mounted on the marble. I am 90% sure I did see in Angolia's book "Civil and Political Awards of the Third Reich" that this award was presented in a largee flat box (etui) but that the bronze base that it sits on was a private purchase. The award itself has very nice detail to it and the Eagle is superb with very high relief.
The eagles wingspan is 7 inches and the round SA logo at the bottom is 1.25 inches in dia.
the private purchase tapered bronze base is 4.25 x 1.5 high
With the marble base it is 11 inches high and 8 inches across the bottom marble piece. I may put this on the e-stand later but I would like some opinions. Many Thanks for looking
