Political cape clasp

Hi everyone!

I picked up this cape clasp device from a friend yesterday. It came from a vet estate deal. Anyway, I don't know much about it, but I had not seen one before and I had to have it. I was wondering if I got it for a decent price. Can anyone suggest what this might be worth and how rare it is?

Wow, I have spent the entire day trying to find info on this piece with very little results. Seems that it is quite rare. I paid $300.00 for it and I am now more satisfied, as I thought that I might have over paid. Either way, I love this piece, as it looks really cool. I do wish that there was more info these.
I did notice that the one for sale in the link does not have oak leaves on the hook like this one does. I also noticed that John T., (germanwarbooty), has one for sale too. It is altogether different from mine and the others. Anyway, thank you for posting that link, sir. If anyone else has any input, please feel free to share.
