    9 November Ceremony

    Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any information they could please post or send me about the 9 November ceremonies. I’m after the program of events, either the main one at the Feldernhalle, or smaller ceremonies held throughout the country.

What was the general program, content of speeches given, music played and decorations.

I’m aware of this interesting article:

    http://research.calvin.edu/german-pr...ve/99feier.htm

But I was interested to see what else I could find out. This is just for my own personal knowledge. Thanks in advance for any help/information.

    Cheers

    Nicole

You might search or scroll though the first pinned thread of this particular forum. There is much discussion of the various events of 9 November. Also, a fine article was written on the different 9 November events and published in Roger Bender's magazine "The Military Advisor". Check the back issue listings.

        Hello Nicole,

It would depend on which year events you're after. First time around there was very little pre-scheduled events as most were, ahem, spontaneous in nature.

        cheers

Thanks for your reply. Have looked through the 9 November thread again, lots of awesome photos, I didn't really see any information on the order of ceremony for the day. I have sent an e-mail to the Military Advisor to see if I can get a copy of the issue that had the 9 November article in it. Thanks for the tip.

            Cheers

                Hi Matt,

Thanks for the reply. I'm not after a particular year, would just like to know what they actually did. What was the general order of ceremony, they songs they played, what did they say in their speeches, etc.

                Cheers

                  Nicole,

There was for example also a book published in the period as a guidance, meaning and detailed descritions of the events by the SS-Hauptamt. It is quite rare today and one example is on display within the SS-exhibition at Wewelsburg castle.

Sorry to come late to this thread but I have been out of the Country for a few days.

Here is a program from my collection from the 1933 anniversary march that gives an hour by hour detail of the events of the day.

Thanks again for your replies everyone.

der-hase-fee - Thank you VERY much for your generous help (via pm), it is really appreciated. It is exactly what I was after.

Thorsten B - Do you happen to know the name of the book you refered to? I have been to Wewelsburg Castle, but I don't recall the book. I tried googling SS-Hauptamt but it came up with lots of things.

EricS - That's mean - it's like putting a lolly in front of a child and then snatching it away.... You can't just show the front cover... what about the pages that detail the ceremony????? (pretty please.... )

                      Cheers

                      Nicole

                        Hi Nicole,

Another source of information about the events of 8/9 November 1923 and an account of the 'martyr' ceremonies that took place in Munich from 1933 until 1943 is found, in English, in the book by Jay W. Baird: "To Die for Germany -- Heroes in the Nazi Pantheon." First published in 1990 by Indiana University Press here in the USA, it is still available as "printed on demand" through that same publisher. Hardbound and softbound copes of the 1990 and 1992 editions are easily available online and quite reasonably priced.

While Baird's book covers a number of the 'martyrs of the Movement' during the early years of the NSDAP, the chapter you will find of interest is titled "Sacrifice at the Feldherrnhalle: The Nazi Immortals of 9 November 1923."

Hope you'll find this helpful. Cheers,

                        Br. James

Erich - Fantastic booklet. Not seen many of these around.
Just curious, does anyone else have this booklet?

Nicole, unfortunately, my scanner is not working to post some of the pages of the program.

Mil, you are correct, the 33 edition is very hard to find these days. Do you still have your copy?

James, the book that you mention is a must have for anyone interested in the subject. Think I have read mine 3 times and will probably read it again!
