Rare Labor Badge from 1932???

A friend wants to sell me a badge that he says is a Labor Commemorative from 1932 and that he has found out that it is worth $1600.
I've never seen this one before or anything even like it.
The badge pictured is not the actual badge but is an example. He is still getting around to taking pics.
Does anyone recognize this one and know if it's value is anywhere close to his ballpark?

$1600 seem to be a bit high but they are rare badges indeed. Desirability lack a bit though.

Pictures of the actual badge. I see that the back is missing the pin.
The guy that found it wanted to sell it to me but I find myself bereft of funds for a purchase.
If anyone is interested, they can get hold of me and I'll hook 'em up to my friend in Minnesota.
