    Reichs-Hauptdienstleiter Gerhard Wagner

    Hi!

    This is a picture of Reichs-Hauptdienstleiter Gerhard Wagner.
    Could anyone please tell me what kind of badge his has beside his EK?
    And does anyone know what decorations he was awarded during his career.

    The badge on the viewer's left of the EK1 is a Silesian Eagle first class.

      While I realize you were inquiring about the badge itself and not necessarily the personality, you might find it interesting to see his actual uniform here today.

      When following this link, you will notice in the picture gallery a different period photo featuring the same award you inquired about.

            More like "one of his" uniforms. E.g. loops are quite different from those he's wearing in the photographs.

                Wow, impressive piece and collection !

                Can you please help me to understand how the attribution was made ? I did not really find that - or may have missed it - in Jeff's description:

                Pre-1939 service tunic for Reich Hauptdienstleiter Dr. Gerhard Wagner, the NSDAP Reichsärzteführer (National Physician's Leader) from 1934 to 1939. Extremely rare tunic; only 5 men held this rank, the second highest rank in the Reich at that time. Note the Red Cross Decoration in the buttonhole and the personalized addition of gold metallic piping to the armband and the numerous medal loops.

                  The Silesian eagle was one of very few Freikorps items allowed to be worn during the Third Reich period correct?
