    Pl gorget

Heres a new addition to my PL collection a Political Leader Gorget in outstanding condition - The unique thing about this gorget is that the chain is RZM marked with 1/17 on both end pieces (Metal Insignia & Badges) & the gorget is marked on both tabs with RZM 5/8 (Uniform fittings) both RZM numbers are relative to maker F.W Assmann & Sohne,Ludenscheid. I believe this to be a early production where the maker used two RZM codes rather than in the later production one RZM code for the entire gorget rig(chain/gorget). Also like the fact that it has the brown backing rather then the green felt backing found on most of these.

A very nice piece! And you're probably right that this gorget was made prior to the eventual coordination of RZM numbers. The example in my collection bears the same RZM license code on one clip as well as on both end links of the chain (RZM M1/128, representing the firm of Eugen Schmidhäussler of Pforzheim), and mine also has the green felt backing. A beauty!

        Br.James-

Thanks for the comments - I also have a couple that reflect both the same RZM # on the gorget as on the chain but over the many years of collecting the one pictured above is the first with that type of numbering-

                      Thanks for the comments -
Ron - still looks great after 60+ years of facing the insects etc.
