This kind of canteen was used by all paramilitary branches, like RAD, HJ, SA, etc. Also police.

Compass is period private purchased. Also exists with writing "Jugend-Kompass" (youth compass). So yours was meant for Wehrmacht.

It looks almost the same, but main difference is the material, postwar ones are made of plastic, and are therefore not as heavy as yours.
