Certainly could be--if it doesn't react to UV and passes the burn test, it would be hard to say it wasn't.

Erich is right, also, as long as it is the same diameter. Lots of sewing notions like braid and such were imported from Germany and France during the 20's and 30's, so even if you found it in an old sewing basket here in the US, it could well be original period German piping.

Is it safe to say, if piping has a slight shine! it's still could be original after these test are done?
