I have not to date seen a super fake BO and if this is one of them that would truly be scary. That said, I stand by my opinion that it's original until it can be proven otherwise.

Erich, the fake I posted run me pretty close and I only realised it was fake on hands on inspection. There is a dangerous super fake out there and that's for real. This could be one of them but I would need a hands on to tell for sure as there are 'tells' in hand. I would like to know who sold this for the reasons stated earlier.

          Jon,
I remember the one that you speak of but the one posted is not the same. The devil is in the details and from the photos it looks right to me at this point. The fakers have a lot of problems getting the statues, lions and eagle just right. This one if fake, would be the first that I have seen with the correct die flaw among other traits that I like to see that are present on this medal.

              Hi Jon,

I've no 'dog in this race' either and am very happy with my 2nd pattern posted earlier in this thread and I certainly don't want to discredit the dealer either without proof as he is reputable and seems to sell quite a few Blood Orders. I just dont think this one looks as good as the ones previously posted as original.

I have contacted the seller with my concerns and he has made it clear that he believes this one to be "100% original" but to his credit he and the buyer have agreed to in his words 'knock this one on the head to alleviate any concerns' and has sent two more photos & referred me to the following:
"this first pattern Blood Order numbered 902 was found in the lining of a well-worn M1923 Pattern SA wind jacket & kepi belonging to SA member Robert Wust. Unfortunately without ribbon and has suffered some minor damage and areas of wear but remains an excellent example of a sought after and rare medal" http://www.ulricofengland.com/index....ow&ref=g007142"

I don't like this one at all. There are a number of features that are different than usually found on a type 1 BO.

This wouldn't be for my collection at all based on the earlier pictures, rubber stamped by these latest pictures.

                    Hi Jon,
Thanks for your reply, I agree that this one doesn't look "quite right". I don't know if it's a 'super-fake' or just a crappy strike but I wouldn't be comfortable buying any B.O, first or second pattern without your approval.

Back to the topic at hand, concerning the die flaw, obviously Fuess made the first pattern B.O's with the die flaw and probably a lot of the second pattern ones with the same die flaw but who made the third type (such as the one shown in #12 or the type 3 or 2C)? Were there two or three makers of this award?

The actual maker of the type 1 BOs is known--if memory serves, Fuess made the dies but didn't produce the medals. The other 2+ makers are unknown.

                        Hello,

just a short addition to the Blood Order 902: It was sold a few weeks ago at miliweb321 by a seller from Czechia or Slowakia (don´t remember it exactly). It was sold for a few hundred €.

So: "Found in the lining .....?"

I passed on it because a few details doesn´t seem to be right and with the combination of the seller´s home it was to risky to buy.

Have a few pics saved on my files ...

                        Best Regards

... it has the flaws but seems to be a superfine rubber form mould.

That's great research Max_Porter, I like it even less from your pics- thanks for posting.

Thanks Erich, I had just assumed that Fuess made the medals,

After seeing the close up shots and the numbering which looks odd, I must now agree with my learned colleagues regarding the dubious authticity of this medal. That said, don't think it was made to be a super fake with many more of them in the pipeline but I have also learned to never say never in this hobby.

100% fake, dangerous to the casual collector just wanting an example.
