    DAF Mess bowl

    Hi All
Know little about plates and dinnerware items? Is this logo an accepted original?
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated as this is not my field
    Thanks

This company had many different logos through the years, but the "Hutschenreuther" Hohenberg logo on your bowl is correct for the 1938-1939 period. The only example of this logo I've seen was from 1939. It was identical to yours, except that it said "Germany" at the bottom, indicating that it was probably intended for export. A legitimate bowl, IMO. The logo should be underneath the glaze, not on top of it. Also, I'm not sure that DAF plates or bowls are heavily faked. Even original SS mess ware sells for only about $100-$150 per item. I'm sure your item is fine.

PS: That diagonal connecting line between the "H" and the logo, underneath the "1814", appears on their 1914 logo, and on your 1938 logo, but is absent on the 1939 logo I mentioned earlier.

        Thank you

Thank you so much you certainly know your china or ceramics!
Thanks. The fellow who has them has a set of four and wants to sell them? Don't have the foggiest idea what to offer? Any idea of what a fair price would be?
        Thank you

Make a low offer of what you'd LIKE to pay, and bargain from there. Good luck!

$20-$30 per bowl, assuming you want to keep them. If you are buying to resell, these are not fast moving items. I enjoy them and think they are underappreciated. It's not really DAF porcelain as much as generic mess hall porcelain made to a DAF approved design and these were used in many different settings.

I am going over to view them on Sunday and will make an offer.
