    SA unit marking-help!

The following marking is stamped on known SA training rifles: P.W. 18. , does anyone have any idea on an SA unit? -MB

Is the rifle marked with the standard SA logo on the stock, or is there also a Group name in the stock marking? Where is the P.W. marking located, and how was it applied (stamped, engraved, painted, etc.?). I can think of a number of things the P.W. mark could stand for but I don't have a period reference that would nail it down.

      Stamped into buttplate

It is stamped into the butt-plate using Roman type font: 'P.W. 18.' -all of these rifles in this serial number range were issued to the 'SA', that's why I believe it's an SA unit marking, but I could be wrong. -MB

Unless it's a known abbreviation (which it's not to me, at least), it would be pretty difficult if not impossible to determine by which organization the trainer was used.
