Was This A Forerunner To The HJ

This badge is on a WW1 era "Hate Belt", and wondering if this was a forerunner to the Hitler Youth.

    Education appreciated...

Except for being a "Youth" Organization....absolutely no connection to the Hitler Youth ( to an organization that was not yet in existance when this "Hate Belt" was assembled).

Exactly which "Youth" Organization and other details are pretty much unknown (at least in the "West") and of no special interest above the other pins and buttons, etc. on the belt....

Looks like a very nice "Hate Belt" for what it it....

Youth organisations held great prominence in Germany. Nearly every organisation of a political or apolitical nature used them as a pool of recruitment and as a way of sustaining themselves.

The church, veterans groups and the sports bunds were among those that utilized youth wings. The list of groups that had them was long.

Eventually, we see both the Communists and the Fascists utilizing their own competing youth groups, quite often recruiting from the same pools of children. At times, children found themselves in the unenviable position of having been in both camps as their parent's political affiliations changed.

(I have not come across any cases of concurrent membership, but in Wiemar Germany, anything was possible!) I do recall having a conversation with a family friend who told me that it was quite common to be told by cadres to "poach" those from the other side when you could!

As such, all competing youth groups were made redundant by Hitler when they were subsumed into the HJ.
