    Good study in what was chosen to put on the hat.....

      Man this guy got a lot of stuff to fit on a hat lol. What are the pips for under the eagle in the first picture?

        Flower pips....were used by Austria pre-anschluss (+postwar) and by some German sub-organizations prewar....also adopted "postwar" by some German Polizei groups (as collar tab pips) and Watchman/security organizations.

        Lots of "odds and ends", these "used" to get disassembled once they hit the market.... and while the temptation would be there to do so.... you should keep it EXACTLY as is....

        PS- More often than not....these were made of "left-over" items by German civilians early postwar and "sold/traded" on the black market.... the average "G.I." (or) didn't have the time to collect and put these together....

            Those flower appearing pips are pictured in the wartime F. W. Assmann catalog described as Rosetten (rosettes ), für Bayern Schutzpolizei, Kommunalpolizei & Gendarmerie, available as silver-plated brass, or as polished white aluminum. The Assmann item numbers by the pictures of the pips are #16293, #11957, & #17669.
