What is this D S plaque?

    Hi All,

Bought a small grouping yesterday and this plaque was in it. What is this D S plaque for?

    Thanks in advance,

    Bill,
According to "Handbuch der Abzeichen deutscher Organisationen 1871-1945" by Heering & Husken.....

it's a "V" not a "D"....so it "V.S." for "Volksliste Saar" Organization...(A103a) I believe it was the organization of National Socialist in the Saar Region prior to 1935 (when Saar was reunited with Germany) and remained as a "traditional" organization. This would be a "door plaque" indication membership.

I agree with John: the logo of a pair of hands in friendly, welcoming greeting was also a common campaign pin/badge design during (1934) and after the process of the Saarland being reunited into the TR by referendum in 1935. "Deutsch ist die Saar" was a common slogan, and that proved to be very true when at least 90% of the population voted for reunification with Germany. A very attractive piece!
