Details do not look right. Example fat suspension ring.

            medals

When i was told about them i was thinking about the 25 year pin back example ive seen pics of, the way they were described to me i thought these might of been something that had to do with that medal, but when i saw them today... i figured they still had merit. There funky that's for sure . But came with a neat group of insignia a unknown hj honor pin and some neat other nsdap long service devices that have never been seen before, the stuff must of come out of a factory or some type of sample board.

Very interesting- these are unfinished 10 year medals (25 years do not have that thick loop). I would suggest the prongs have something to do with attaching the separately struck roundels as these crosses were made in 1, 2 and 3 piece versions.

Patrick, would you care to elaborate on the production technique of these 3 versions you mention, I´m eager to learn. Also, in what way would these prongs be useful in assambling a cross and if so, which of the crosses are we talking about? I´m sure we can rule out the solid type

                cheers

                    not for me

I would question the originality of the unfinished pieces that started this thread. Typically gilding/plating (or any other method of applying finish) would be a very last step that was done after the enamel application and hand finishing. Reason for that was simple- plating is a very thin layer that would be worn off when polishing enamel or filing/hand finishing the cross. There were few of those 25 year crosses with cracked enamel posted here before- all revealed a copper color under the cracked/missing enamel
Then there is even move obvious fact of the pieces not matching any known examples in a way of die characteristics- look at the neck/head of the eagle- it is void of any details- no neck feathers, not even an eye.
                    cheers
                    Matt

I think these are original, made to mount on a board to show the manufacturing process...

Looks like brass fresh out of somebody's casting mold. Not anything even close to original.

The lack of detail tells the story for me it for me.

You cannot say it is from years of rubbing either - or the finish would also be void.

Arran, I repeat my question. In what way is this a part of the manufacturing process and could you elaborate on the difference between the 3 types (solid, 2-piece and 3-piece)?

                            cheers
